    After a compact system camera.

    I used to own a few DSLR cameras. D40, D200, S5-Pro.

Now I quite fancy taking some photos again, but don't want the bother of carrying around too much kit.

    Any recommendations?

Looking at £800 tops for body and lens. I like playing with manual settings also.

What's wrong with a compact like a sony rx100 series? Seriously, there are many reasons why you might want something better but give us a hint what sort of features are important to you. You'll be gaining image quality in poor light and maybe better AF but handling is no better,

Re: After a compact system camera.

You can get some great bargains by picking up generation old stuff - sensor tech moves so slowly that there's often no difference in image quality, just a feature or two in the body that you might not need.

I'm a big fan of Olympus cameras, they are so compact and the lens choice/quality/value for money is superb. BUT they aren't the top choice for low light shooting (though again check equivalent fast lenses as that can make up for it).

The Fuji CSCs are also superb value for money right now as they're just starting to bring in a new sensor, so all the old sensor cameras are on cut down. If you are needing low light shots then go straight there!

But as above, what kind of scenes are you looking to shoot, so we can recommend a good lens.

Look on the Fuji refurb shop - the XE1 was on there for £199 plus delivery recently.

Re: After a compact system camera.

    Hi all.

I went for the X-T10. Seems nice and compact without being too dumbed down. I tend to shoot in aperture priority.

I didn't fancy the 18-55 that came with it so went for body only and got the XF35mm F1.4R for it.

I'll be using it for a mixture of family shots/portraits and just landscape stuff. So I'm after a nice wide lens next. May give the XF14mm F2.8R a go.

Just ordered the XF10-24mm lens for it. Can't wait. It looks a bit of a hefty beast mind you.
