I have to confess, its an old pic, IIRC it was 15 frames in a mosaic. Skywatcher 8 inch reflector, a couple of Barlows and the old Nikon D70.

We didn\'t have any cloud, it was very bright but wasn\'t any bigger than usual.

TBH, the "2011" stamp in the corner kind of gave that away! Still doesn't take away the fact that it is indeed a stunning photo.

Either way, stunning detail.

I agree with the above comments. Regardless of when, or indeed how, it was done that is one VERY impressive moon picture.

Were the mosaic frames stacked or just single subs? I've dabbled a little in astrophotography but I usually end up cursing the moon for being too bright rather than imaging it!

impressive telescope! is that a stitching error?

Single shots stitched by hand in Photoshop, and yes, there may well be a small error :) No-one is perfect :)
