eBay Image Issues

Wasn't sure what category this should go in.

Anyway I am selling my car and took some photo's on my phone which is a Mate 20 Pro 40 megapixel which gives a 7296x5472 image size.

File size was on the max ebay allows so uploaded my images and they are horrible, grainy as hell and lacking a lot of detail. My assumption was ebay had resized the images or introduced compression to make the file size smaller. So I use Paint Shop Pro and reduced the image size myself and uploaded again and the same thing is happening.

Other images on the site look fine. Other people's images that is. Where am I going wrong?

Is there a "perfect" image size for ebay? Or a perfect file size?

Just to add I tried resizing the images to a maximum of 1600 on one side and a jpg file size of 500K, same results. Tried PNG with a file size of 4.5MB, same results.

Mine are set to 1500 across, always works for me

I have tried 1600 and 1400, exactly the same, maybe a caching issue perhaps but unlikely. I have also tried the same thing on Gumtree(owned by eBay) and the same thing happens :/

since ebay started offering 12 free images they've had to restrict server storage space and in my opinion are compressing the hell out of everything.
