Need a Card Reader, Any suggestions?

As I will be replacing my shuttle which I used the card reader on often, I will have to get a stand alone one for my next PC.

Coming from a shuttle where everything is integrated, I guess anything will simply connect to USB on the motherboard.

Any suggestions as to what is good and what to avoid?

Probably wrong area to ask but will also need to do the same with an optical drive as have a catalog of cd’s I have never got round to back up on a hard drive.

What kind of card? Are we talking 80 column or something a little more modern?

    this is ok

but the USB 3.0 connection is the dodgy kind so mine failed after a time, and I use the single slot now as they use the larger connection
