    Olympus exiting the camera business?

Looks like they are selling their business to JIP,the same company which bought the Vaio brand from Sony:

Shame. I have had very good experiences with Olympus.

But nor is it much of a surprise.

The E1 was genuinely a breath of fresh air back in 2003. However,I think Olympus didn't stay focused on their niche, which made them a bit generic, and that massive accounting scandal didn't help either.

Had an OM1 in the '70s - cost about a month's wages but was a superb little camera. Sold it in about '93; still regret doing that.
