    what lens cleaner?

I used to use Dr Optic Optical Cleaner for my lenses and filters but nowhere seems to sell it now. It was great, 18ml mini travel bottles, pump action with a decent mist. Does anyone know a good lens cleaning solution that comes in similar small size and doesn't smear or leave horrible residue? The default Amazon results have a few 1* pannings that put me off.

    Re: what lens cleaner?

IF you're talking for glasses, I haven't used a lens cleaner in decades. Just breath and wipe down... seem to do the job for me. And if it gets something on it, a bit of water does the job. And for clarity, I need to wear glasses all the time (except sleeping).

If not talking about glasses... no idea

Edit2: So this is in the photography section.... so probably not glasses... I give up!

Edit3: Maybe this will help you choose: https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/b...-lens-cleaners

    Re: what lens cleaner?

Eclipse was popular on some forums
    https://www.wexphotovideo.com/eclips...-59ml-1001956/

but I use 99.9% IPA and sometimes a very mild cleaning agent (decon neutracon) thats been heavily diluted, then rinsed, then the IPA.

    Re: what lens cleaner?

I use a very 80/20 simple distilled water and pure IPA plus a wetting agent, like a few drops of Ilfotol. In fact its the same stuff I use to clean my LPs.

    https://londonjazzcollector.wordpres...r-vacuum-rcms/

I keep 5ml bottles of Ilfotol for my hifi friends, gimme a shout if anyone needs some.

    Re: what lens cleaner?

i use eclipse when its needed, (mostly when a gentle cloth wipe is causing streaks,) its also good for sensor swabs if you take that task on yourself. Having converted a few dslrs to infrared i had to get comfortable with regular cleaning

I'm after a spray rather than their wipes, and the Zeiss spray stuff while recommended in the article someone linked to above gets several pannings in Amazon reviews as leaving residue and being worse than not having bothered. It also comes in large bottles that would be too big for what I'm after.

    Re: what lens cleaner?

I use calotherm calocloth cloth but if the lens is really dirty, i use a manual air duster + 10% IPA 90% deionized water (i think that's Zeiss lens spray uses according to their msds) then the calocloth.

    Re: what lens cleaner?

Most wipes and sprays are a solution of Isopropyl Alcohol anyway. Zeiss lens cleaner is mostly made of it:
