    Best camera on a budget

Seeing as though there is no way i can afford an SLR + Lens i'm after the following:

Decent image quality (well durr )
    Decent macro (for closeups ~2cm)
and most importantly... cheap... i.e. over £150 is pushing the boundaries quite alot...

i have no aversion to refurbs/second hand if it helps to get something cheaper etc...

any ideas, seeing as i have no idea about this kind of thing

    Cheers,
    TT

I'm off travelling round China shortly and am debating buying a very cheap point and shoot secondary camera, for places that my main bridge camera would be too obtrusive and for my girlfriend to use. Now, I've got a donkeys' years old minolta that I could take but I'd have to lug around the proprietary charger for it. If I can find a worthwhile, ideally reasonably rugged compact that runs on AA NiMH batteries (you can never be carrying too many AA batteries ) I'd probably rather spring for that - it'll most likely take better pictures and have a screen >1" into the bargain - any recommendations?

7D - grey or uk stock?

hi guys, im really considering making a huge purchase on one of these and the cheapest uk stock i can find is about £1550 and grey is around 1350...

thats a massive difference of course, but even then would it be a good purchase considering its been out for nearly 2 years, i would hate to purchase it and a mk2 gets released a few months later!

going for the 15-85 lens bundle

    also anyone with a 7d - opinions ?

so.. opinions on grey ? a no go ?

Wow. From a £150 compact on AA batteries to a 7D and lens. That's quite a pivot. I thought I was the one having trouble making up my mind what I wanted, but I bow to a master.

Re: Best camera on a budget

Hmm initially these were merged posts since they were similar topics all started at the same time, but looking at it now, questions about importing a 7D mk1 saying it was out two years ago give a bit of a clue - it was actually out in 2009 so the text in this post comes from 2011, not a real poster. Looking at other posts, they're similarly repeated text from old posts in this forum.
