Hmmm. As you say, more D70 > D70s than 10D > 20D :/
Adds spot metering though. I use this quite a lot, and only recently realised that most cameras don't have it?
That's nice, too. I've heard of D70's dying after 20-40,000 shutter cycles, which, at the rate I shoot pictures, is a little worrying100,000 shutter cycle life
So it's still a toss up between the big guns then, Shiato?
what they haven't told you is the 20D's shutter is rated at 100000 too.
i'm still leaning towards the 1dmkIIN currently yes. although the 5D cashback is tempting...

Noah just mentioned this to me... Impressive stuff. Although it makes the 30D even less impressive as a new camera.Originally Posted by shiato storm
indeed. as I said, its more a 20D mkII N than a new camera entirely. I dunno whats going on in canon's r&d dept but it seems like they had a load of old 1dmkII bodies lying around, ripped the backs off and put a bigger screen on the back, slap and N on the front and call it a day. they've done the same with the 20D left overs, bigger screen, re-badge and send it out the door...

well theimage quality from the 20D is as good/better than the d200...still, would have been nice to see something more from canon. for those that know cameras this is a good camera - should have been out last summer with the 5d/1d..N etc - if you haven't got a 20d or dslr then its still a pretty good buy. its odd that canon are making a noise about things that were in the 20D but 'bigging them up' to make them seem like they weren't... i.e. 100000 shutter life on the 30D, it was 100000 on the 20D! digicII? ok, same again. AF - same, etc...
lcd bigger - current trend anyway, 1.6x crop - again - same, iso in viewfinder - nice touch, files up to 9999 before new folder - good but fixable with a firmware update (where is it canon?!), same menu (i hated it), same buttons, same controls, same this, same that...
other than those very minor adjustments the price is higher - and being the UK we're getting ripped off by quite some way...£1099 is rrp, in europe its 1399 euros (£955) and the US $1399 (£805)...sucks the big kahoona burger out of it if you ask me.

Just read this somewhere else... This is a pretty important upgrade, IMO. It's sooo annoying when you accidentally leave the ISO too high. I did it just tonight, bummed out a bunch of shots by leaving the cam on ISO 1600 :/Originally Posted by shiato storm
