mates wanting a new camera to take on holiday with him, max budgets £150, ideally less.
Its a touring camera so preferably compact, but good, maybe around the 3mp mark.

With such a low budget, have you considered looking on ebay for a good 2nd hand one?
There are new ones on there too...
HTC Diamond, Cannon G9. Apple Unibody Macbook Pro 15" 2.4Ghz C2D, 256 9400GT,
I'd recommend the Fuji FinePix F10 or F11 both around £140.
