Is the budget £150 or £180.

I have the canon powershot a620 and IMO its fantastic, bit bigger than some 'compacts' but that brings the price down. Think its been replaced with something a little better now so you might find it within budget with a 1GB card

I haven't seen any reviews on the cameras you mentioned, but if all else being equal, get the camera with the least shutter lag. Having used a fair number of digital compacts, the must infuriating issue by far is having to wait more than a second between taking pics....I've had a couple of Canons, two Sonys and one Fuji, and although the Fuji was the best for colour reproduction, and the Sony for ease of use, it's always been the Canon's for functionality and range of features.

if you shop around you should be able to get the fujitsu f11. the photo quality from this small camera is excellent, it can use high iso levels with little moise so is really good for pictures in the dark

For that price range I would go for Panasonic personally. I think you can get one with the stabilizer for 130-140.

well.. it is the same price as the e900, and can go up to twice the iso of the e900... but there is a bad review on amazon for that cam...

i think ill just go for the e900! that 9mpixel amount... just stands out far too much for me

Megamixels nean nothing, especially when comparing fuji to other brands. Most brands use a square pixel but fuji use a hexagonal pixel which gives them a higher pixel count but doesnt improve the picture quality.

more megapixels can actually make the picture worse.

if the ccd sensor is the same size you get to a point where adding more pixels creates a bigger photo but one with more noise so worse photo quality.

the e900 looks bigger than the f11 (whcih is a compact) so will probably have a bigger ccd and will be able to cope with more pixels
