    Yoyotech waterdragon

Anyone have one of these? Looks a good price for Phenom 2 925 and AMD 4890 but I wonder if there are any shortcomings. Opinions please

So this isn't water cooled? That would have made so much more sense.

Looks reasonable for the money, cheapish but OK psu.. if you arent willing to build it yourself it might be worth a punt.

YoYotech are OK, they have some CS issues from what I hear, they used to have a care forum here but left..

it IS water cooled but i guess the same performance could have been achieved with a decent air cooler. Dont like the top access ports though prefer them on the front

Oh I see, that isn't really water cooled though, that self contained thing is as you say comparable to air coolers last time I checked, seems to provide a good overclock though.

Water-cooling will always perform better when there's more heat to drag away - I'd guess that most processors at stock speeds just won't generate enough heat to make water cooling work well! In the PCPro review the CPU is kept to 35 degrees fully loaded - pretty impressive considering the extent the CPU is overclocked...

    Re: Yoyotech waterdragon

The CoolIT domino is a nice bit of kit but doesn't actually outperform the leading air coolers. Given they are £70 a pop you might expect a bit more. Furthermore, they aren't actually that quiet. Not noisy, but then the best air coolers with good quality 120mm fans on are just as good. Furthermore, the CM690(dominator) is a great case but there isn't, afaik, a windowed version - so probably the coolest feature of the domino ALC is hidden.

Overall, its nice parts, a nice case, will offer great performance. However, I wonder if anyone is building an AMD xfire system with 2x4770s... 'cause if this is the sort of prebuild you want, I reckon someone should be doing that soon if not already, and thats what I would go for!

Inclined to agree - I'll happily build you a Phenom II / 4770 xfire watercooled and overclocked to a decent degree if you'll swing me... say... £3000?

Water cooling I think needs to be more personal.. as there are so many options, but then I guess its down to how competant you feel with building loops etc.

I wouldnt ever want to move the PC much either if its using a decent setup.. so its a nono if you perhaps go to alot of lans imho
