Re: advice needed in buying pre built pc

Well the question of whether you should buy a pre-built PC for you is one that only you can answer.
For me, I like building my own since
    a) i like to be very specific about what I have
    b) I like to know that every component was the best value I could find for what it does
    c) I havent paid a single pound more than I needed to (ie extended warranties, or paying for someone else to build it for me)
    d) I know what to change if I want a better component in the future
    e) I have learnt the knowledge of how to build

If that sounds appealing to you, then self-build away! It's fun, and the people here at Hexus are happy to give advice as needed.

On the other hand, getting someone like Scan (for example) to build you a rig might add e.g. 10% to the cost, but you'll get a quality job with a comprehensive warranty, and not stress yourself if anything does go wrong.
Edit: Just to add that when companies offer to overclock for you, again you as the customer are typically paying a little extra for something that 30 minutes of posting here and reading could lead to you doing yourself (although some chips overclock far better than others). It comes down to if you consider this knowledge worth paying someone else to do for you, or if you would get a kick out of knowing yourself.
I'm commenting on an internet forum. Your facts hold no sway over me.
