Returning PC to Scan - which courier?

    Hi,

I'm thinking of returning my pre-built 3XS system to Scan for reasons I won't go into (not relevant). However, I realise I should use a decent company for this and was curious as to what recommendations people have on this? I could simply ask them to pick it up and pay them, but I thought it may be cheaper to do this myself.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Yao

Re: Returning PC to Scan - which courier?

There's a limited number of couriers which do domestic pickups. So better couriers like DPD aren't an option for you.

I would have them collect it that way it's their responsibility the second it leaves your house.

Yeh. Dont be tempted to send it yourself. Its your'e responsibility if it goes "missing" in transit...

If you do go with courier I recommend Parcel Monkey which is City Link. Get insurance and then get Scan to cover your costs.

Have had them pick up twice and it was a very hassle free and speedy service so that's definitely a good choice.

They use NetSolve as their courier of choice. Unfortunately, I've been scarred once by this cowboy outfit so I'm reluctant to use them again.

Re: Returning PC to Scan - which courier?

I ttend to use parcel2go if I'm sending something, it's sort of like a price comparison site where you can check which courier offers the best deal for the package you want to send and they also seem to get bulk discounts so bring the prices down a bit than if you were to go direct.

    You could try:

    http://www.interparcel.com/

They will find you the best price from the different companies out there and since they ship lots of stuff with all the big names they get really big discounts which will save you a fortune in shipping costs.

Can't believe someone suggested CityLink they are nearly as bad as the home delivery network.

Re: Returning PC to Scan - which courier?

I second Interparcel. I find that when I use them the best price comes from TNT which seem to be OK. UPS do pickups and for something as expensive as a PC I'd pay the extra and use them as I've found them to be excellent.

Re: Returning PC to Scan - which courier?

Parcel2go are good for comparisons but check with a courier if they will insure a PC. I have tried some and they refused to handle it, probably to many claims in the past :-(

Best option by far is to get them to arrange a pick up

Re: Returning PC to Scan - which courier?

ive also used parcel2go for a few hardware shipments within the UK and had no problems, but ive always used my works addressfor pickup as its 24/7 manned and security doesnt mind.
Nothing worse than having to wait in all day for a pickup.
