    Technology

    If I had a top spec machine 5 years ago, with todays technology would a low spec machine now be better or worse ?

    That question is far too broad and generic to answer to be honest.. We'll need far more information to begin to answer that.

    What's the spec of your current machine?
    What spec machine are you looking at purchasing?

    Depends how low spec is low etc but I'd say £7-800 well spent today would beat something that cost a few thousand back then, but the difference isn't huge really, a couple of grand then would get you Core 2 Duo(quad not long after), 4GB ram and a couple of 8800GTX's. Still a respectable system.
