    Help Gaming PC

    Hi,

Uhm iam a total noob when it comes to Pc specs ( i don't really know what's good for what. ). My dad adviced against building a pc, because he thought that there'd be too big a chance that something might get broken.

So this is basically what i want:

    Pc

Monitor ( not fully necassary, but prefered ) Edit: i do need a monitor, sorry

    Keyboard

    Purpose:
    Gaming (specifically Skyrim )

    Software: Microsoft ( preferably windows 7 )

No mouse needed ( already have one )

This is my budget £400 is there anything decent i can get for that? If not what is the nearest price? Any build or prebuilt suggestions?!

Also is building your own pc really that difficult? I personally don't mind building one myself. What are my options?
Is there anything specific i should be looking for? Minimum ram, etc...
Any reply is welcome thanks in advance!
Edit: If anyone has any ideas even without the monitor or a copy of Skyrim than please mention anyway, any help is much needed and appreciated!

Edit: There is now a page 2 ( just so you dont miss it )

Well i have this ( rather old ) JVC tvscreen which i curently use for my ps3. But i'm pretty sure i can connect it with a pc. So a monitor is least of my worries.

Not sure if this thread is 100% serious.

As for the monitor, If your "rather old" JVC telly is a CRT then forget about plugging your PC up to it. You could if you really wanted to but it's going to look nasty.

    Re: Help Gaming PC

If all you want it for is Skyrim, why not get it for your PS3?

I'm a little out of date with PC tech at the moment but toting up a basic, budget gaming machine in my head, including a monitor, Windows 7 and a copy of Skyrim it comes nearer to £550 than £400. I'm sure someone else on here will be able to work out a system for £400 though.

Would you consider secondhand or pre-built systems?

I off course i'd prefer no second prebuilt systems but really i dont mind as long as the final product works, that is what matters to me.

Also if anyone could meet the budget without a copy of Skyrim or without a monitor ( or both ) than please mention anyway, any ideas are much apreciated.

Is ebay reliable with this kind of stuf?

    Re: Help Gaming PC

I would avoid that Ebay PC especially since it probably uses a very cheap PSU. Skyrim seems to use only two threads so a dual core would do the job although this won't be the case with all games. However, your budget is not that high considering you need to include the cost of an OS and the high prices of hard drives.

Also,if you intend to use your TV as a monitor, then I would probably get the PS3 version of Skyrim.

    Edit!!

I have come up with the following build using parts from Scan and Amazon.

Once you get to 20 posts on Hexus you can get free postage from Scan:

    http://forums.hexus.net/scan-care-he...tup-guide.html

With free Scan postage the total comes to around £416.

If you are a student. I'm sure these guys still do the student win 7 upgrade (provided that you have XP or vista). Most other student software websites have stopped supplying them.

If you are serious about building a pc then I would start reading up on it. Its not difficult but can take a LOTof time and patience.

Monitor wise I would get this as a minimum for a decent pc. It doesnt have hdmi but its cheap

    Re: Help Gaming PC

Thanks alot, this seems like a good build ( eventhough i have no experience so i can't tell). Also iedited my thread because i can't use the tv as a monitor too old ( look at the first post of thrash man ). Maybe if I'am really lucky i might be able too increase my budget by £50 making it £450. Could i get a decent monitor of £50 and a keyboard?

This woulld make the total cost £428 ( if iam correct ), leaving only £22 for a monitor and keyboard. Iam not sure if thats enough. Hmm. What about this could ( please ) look for the best monitor ( in my budget or near ) and then work out a total price so i can try and save until i have enough money ( please ) !? Btw i get £3.50 per week as pocket money and iam too young too work ( by law ).
    Thanks in advance!

If by student you mean univesity than no, if by senior school then yes. But i dont have any os available so a free uprade is not going to work anyway then. And £90 is a lot of money for me. I get £ 3.50 pocket money per week, which is about £15 per month, which means that it would take about 6 months. Which is quite long... But ill keep it in mind anyway. Thanks for the effort.
