If by student you mean univesity than no, if by senior school then yes. But i dont have any os available so a free uprade is not going to work anyway then. And £90 is a lot of money for me. I get £ 3.50 pocket money per week, which is about £15 per month, which means that it would take about 6 months. Which is quite long... But ill keep it in mind anyway. The G840 is only around £4 to £5 more than the G620 not £12. Novatech does free postage and once you get 20 posts Scan will also do free postage on the order. The G840 has a 200MHZ higher base clockspeed. The G840 does have integrated graphics meaning you can still use the PC without the HD6850 1GB. It is not that great for gaming but it means you can get a monitor instead and save up for a better graphics card over a few months.

And getting a monitor and saving for a graphics card seems like a good idea! Also what monitor would you recomend?
You can get some of the assembly work done for you by buying a "barebones" system. Gets you a motherboard, ram and processor installed and tested in a case.
Add hard drive, dvd drive, monitor and copy of windows.
This could give you a decent start, and the built in graphics mean you could save up for a graphics card later.

The BenQ G2222HDL mentioned earlier would be a good choice for the price IMHO.
The Novatech barebone systems look decent value,but the main issue is what PSU they include. Some of the Powerstation PSUs are not too bad,but their cheaper ranges are not that great. Also,I suspect the motherboards they use only have two RAM slots meaning adding more RAM would be more expensive.
Sounds pretty decent, but i have a qeustion(s) though.
First off all is this going to be good enough to play Skryrim ( preferably at high or ultra )? Is this going to give me the same quality as the build suggested by cat-the-fifth?
you are not going to be able to play skyrim at high or ultra on a system at this budget with what you need to get
I have to agree with this man.
If all you really want to play is Skyrim and you want it to look good, I would use some of the money you have to get a HD TV and plus your PS3 up to that. The difference between a HD TV and your current CRT TV is quite large one.

Bagnaj97 has an Athlon II X3 running at 4GHZ and an HD5850 1GB. Skyrim seems to run quite smoothly at 1920X1080 on high settings with a reasonable amount of AF and AA.
Any hd tv suggestions?
Ehm, im not really familiar with thiscstuf. Athlon II X3 ? 4ghz is 4 giga hertz right? What exactly are giga hertz ? Hd5850 whats that?
What is AF and AA? Im really sorry but i really have no idea about any of these terms.
I have been lately alot of people saying that pcs can produce better graphics. I even read it in How It Works in their latest edition ( when iam typing this ). Is this true or does this only count from a certain budget?

An Athlon II X3 is a CPU/Processor. 4ghz is, as you rightly said, Gigahertz. Gigahertz is the measure of the CPU's speed. Although 2 different CPU's with the same speed GHZ will not necessarily be the same power. Intel and AMD CPU's are not really comparable on GHZ alone.
HD5850 is the model of a gfx card.
AA and AF are features common is most gfx cards,
AA = Anti Aliasing: The feature that removes the Jagged lines that are created when you draw a diaganal line on a screen. It removes the jaggies by adding a slightly darker shade next to the pixel creating a blurred effect that makes the image more smooth.
AF = Anisotropic filtering: Texture filtering of objects that are far away and usually tilted at an angle the further object is blurred slightly to help the effect of distance. think of the opening titles of star wars where the letters blur as they get further away.out of those two AA is not that big of a deal in my oppinion because as things move they naturally blur slightly.

PC's can indeed produce far superior graphics, when compared to the 360 and PS3. Those improved graphics come at a cost though. You have a budget of £450 for you whole machine. You could spend that on 1 gfx card alone.
