Just wondering why are scans laptops more expensive than debenhams some are £200 pounds more. I thought scan was cheaper than retail stores?

The Buy Price has dropped since we last ordered but hadn't been applied, I've done this and dropped the selling price with the same profit margin we had. We are still a bit more expensive in this case, it's not always possible to be the cheapest as a Bulk deal may have been made and another retailer choosing to sell at a very low margin to shift the stock.

At least your reply is honest, overclockers reply was because it was in high demand.

im surprised they didnt just ban you from the forums!
I have to be honest, scan isnt a place i even look towards when buying a laptop because of their prices. The customer support point is relevant but there is plenty of other retailers that offer good enough support to justify saving £100.
Otherwise scan is my first port of call
For certain items it's never going to be possible for a small retailer to match the big boys on price - look at the buying power of the Arcadia group or JL group and it's not surprising that they can negotiate bulk purchase discounts and therefore undercut the independent retailers (basically it's the same thing as supermarkets offering games/dvds/books at heavily cut prices). And I think we often forget that Scan are actually quite a small fish - they're almost ubiquitous here and in techy circles, but in the bigger picture...?
They have had advertising at the reebok for ages.

I know, I was actually agreeing with you There are a number of shops that I regularly use but would never buy a particular item (or range of items) from for this exact reason. But given the tone of the thread up to that point I thought it was worth giving a little context to the discussion.
As to advertising at the Reebok - I wouldn't be at all surprised if they get some kind of preferential or subsidised rates for being next door
i thought scan was a big company
