Help Gaming PC (increased budget)
For anyone who read my previous thread, let me explain.
Not so long ago my laptop broke ( random reason ) now to repair it would cost about £110 so my dad thought that i might as well buy a new one. Now because it was my birthday and my parents insist on paying more next to my birthday money i now have a lot better budget.
So this basically it:
Purpose:
Gaming ( specifically Skyrim )
Monitor
Keyboard
Preferably a laptop
( i travel alot )
Preferably prebuilt
( but i'd rather go for quality than notbuilding )
Budget £600
Any advice, help, tips or suggestions are welcome.
Also can anyone answer this qeustion:
What are the specs i should be looking for? ( iam a total beginner )
Thanks in advance.
Re: Help Gaming PC (increased budget)
For a gaming PC get a desktop. You can build a smaller desktop but you will get a less poweful computer for your budget.
Re: Help Gaming PC (increased budget)
What are the conditions of your travel? Do you spend long periods of time away from home or perhaps travel for short periods but do it more frequently?
Gaming laptops are very expensive, you probably will only manage medium settings (at best) on a budget of £600 playing Skyrim.
I think in your budget the best bet would be to find a laptop with AMD APU(A series processor) since it has a far superior GPU built in than anything Intel would offer at the same price.
Re: Help Gaming PC (increased budget)
What about a mATX build. Portable up to a point.
Re: Help Gaming PC (increased budget)
As a Shuttle and mini-ITX PC owner, they are relatively easy to move around on a train if needed - it is the monitor which would be the major problem to move around. However, small form factor computers do cost more for a given performance level IMHO.
Re: Help Gaming PC (increased budget)
Found this as a laptop option, looks like it has a lot of graphics performance for £600, more than I was expecting to find: http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/products/la...ml?oid=5212647

Please post ideas for pcs as well as laptops.
Also if i want to run skyrim on high or ultra does that mean i have to get a pc? Just to make my decision between the two.
Re: Help Gaming PC (increased budget)
A PC would be a better choice for running Skyrim on high settings.

Re: Help Gaming PC (increased budget)
I had a quick scout around what you can get. So you would be looking a Core i3 2120 and an HD6850 1GB. Now if you are ONLY playing Skyrim you could a Pentium G840 and a faster GTX560 or HD6870 graphics card. This would run Skyrim better than the first combination. However, some games will utilise the HT of the Core i3 better so it really depends on what you want. The Core i3 would be a better choice in the long term IMHO.
Re: Help Gaming PC (increased budget)
How much better does it run skyrim? How many games go better with core i3? And what is more future proof?
Re: Help Gaming PC (increased budget)
Skyrim only uses two thread/two cores so a G840 will almost be the same speed as a Core i3 2120 but for £40 less. However, the Core i3 2120 will be more future proof but of course it means you will need to get a slightly slower graphics card.
I will see if I can much around with the parts to see if I can get a GTX560 or HD6870 and a Core i3.
