I wanted to take advantage of the good rates and get myself a gaming laptop from the US - not hi end but decent enough hopefully.
My budgets $600 ideally , though id be willing to stretch more
What would you go for ?

Is that $600 taking account of the 20% VAT you'll be paying as well to bring it back to the UK?
I would be more worried about the warranty - if it is worldwide it is not such a big issue, and of course the adaptor will need to handle 230V too(most should though).
i hate deciding new pcs or netbooks..
what the hell is a zoostorm ??

The link does not work.
However,I suspect you mean this laptop:

Zoostorm are a PC company.
That laptop won't be good for gaming as it seems to use the HD2000 IGP.
I would suggest waiting for AMD Trinity based laptops to hit retail in the next few months,or at least look at something with an HD6630M or a GT540M.
TBH,if I were you I would look at building a mini-ITX PC,if it is your primary computer.
How much do u think they will they retail at ?
my physical issues have had lying down for over 6 mths , its frustrating as i had planned to build a desktop pc as you know , and then i got worse and havent been able to sit since ... ( i still have the case, graphics & sound card I bought last year ) which i should prob sell.
I saw dell 15r for under $400 was thinking I could sneek it over with Squaretrade warranty for round $500 , provided customs dont hammer me and the seller does me a favour...
Or wait..

Well if you buy from the US you have to think about the Import Duty, VAT and Brokerage Charges which can soon make a cheap import very expensive also there are lots of other issues that come with importing a computer (some mentioned above). Your best bet is to try and stick to retailers in the UK or within the EU.
For £500 you will be able to find a system that can game to some extent, a friend just bought a laptop about two months ago for around £500 and he plays things like SWTOR, League of Legends, Diablo III, The Sims 3, WoW, SC II, Skyrim, TF 2, CS:S and The Witcher 2, sure it's not at high or even medium settings in some of the games but it let's him play most stuff on low-med.
Have you tried the Dell Outlet store?? Or if your lucky a few UK retailers will have some good deals on over the bank holiday weekend and you might find something there, just keep your eyes open on the usual sites

No, as usual ive been trying to think cheap ,but then got more greedy as I saw more options.
Right now I like the sound of this due to its GPU - what puts me off though is the keyboard.
This was my other one, ( there is an 8gb for 429 ) but it doesnt have the dedicated gpu.
ugh,

Due to the euro collapsing your be better getting it from somewhere like Italy or Spain (no VAT issues from euro zone countries), I got my monitor (Dell U2711) from Amazon.es for £470 a while ago.

my opinion is that laptops for gaming get very hot, have you thought about a shuttle or similar?
hmm I planning to give the desktop a go , but I only have gpu & soundcard thats already a year old , so trying to find a good service.
Ebuyer is ripoff for delivery , I see a good deal then get offered some scheme to pay for next day delivery and get a usb stick FREE , and when i refuse it , get told i got pay almost more than original item because of where i like in the UK.
so bugger that.

Dont let it dissuade you though. One man's experiance doesn't mean it's an absolute. The laptop I bought was inn 2006, maybe the technology now a days will help with cooler laptops. But the main problem I found with my laptop is probably a combination of dust accumulation and fan failure. Its not like a desktop where I can just take every thing apart and MOT. But eventually the Laptop wouldn't turn on in the end, difficuly to know what went wrong, but probably related to heat.
I bought a Sony vaio instead and dont use it for gaming albeit for the occasional solitaire +/- SNES games. That's what Desktops are there for . I would carefully look at the laptop for gaming you want and weigh the pros and cons with a desktop. If you use your laptop for work and need the mobility, then it makes sense to get one. But if you only game at home then you can get a decent system for that money and still have change towards a decent laptop from Tesco/sainsbury
Also consider that you can cannabilise components for future systems, such as keyboards, mouse, monitor, Case, hard drive e..t.c. You can't generally replace the CPU or GPU as easily nor change a laptop screen if there are problems.
Let us know how you get on with your mission....
