Laptop screen

Hi guys my toshiba laptop screen has gone dark when the laptop is powered on. I believe the prob lies with either the back light or the inverter.

Is there an easy way to test which before buying replacement parts.

The laptop is fairly old as its an sp30 133 but i cannot afford a replacment...

i have an acer 5532 with a dim screen. have tried replacing lcd and inverter and its still dim?
any ideas what could be wrong?

Is the inverter getting power? Check with a multimeter.

my laptop (acer aspire 4736z) screen always (but maybe usually) got a blank black / getting darker when my laptop getting hot (just by touching the keyboard), so I must press fn+f6 twice, everytime it got blank, but, when it's not too hot it came just OK, not blank

is there something error with my system or something???
and I already bring this laptop to service center, and when it tested it there for play a movie for +-24 hour, it's just ok, not blank-ing
