New Desktop to run PS CS6, LR4 and Proshow Producer

    Hi,

As the subject titles suggests, I'm after a new desktop. Have a budget of £850.

Could anyone recommend a system that would allow me to this.

Prefer an Intel i5/i7 processor, ssd drive, normal drive, a good graphics card and also 16GB Ram.

Already have peripherals, so I just need the base unit.

Quite like the look of this http://www.chillblast.com/Chillblast-Fusion-Orb.html

Will be dropping the case in favour of a Fractal R3 and won't need the peripherals.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Regards

    Mahbub

Are you after a pre-built PC and are you overclocking??

Yes, preferably a pre-built PC. Don't mind building my own but I need to get one sorted asap. Don't think I need to overclock but any advice is welcome.

faster to buy parts, costs you less, allows for better quality and attention to detail during the build that would take you best part of a day.

pick a nice case, two of the crucial 256gb M4 drives for windows, 2 1tb drives for storage.

asus z77 motherboard, 16gb ram, corsair PSU (650w) CPU cooler, 2GB EVGA GT 640 & a core I5 CPU, probably come in under £900 but i assume you would claim the vat back anyway ?

worked out a quick spec of the above at £740 + VAT

i know i probably missed something but imho that would be one hell of a rig for our needs for the next few years, plus the 2x8gb ram allows an upgrade to 32gb if the needs be, otherwise you could go for 4x4gb to fill all the slots.

I assume you have a colour accurate monitor?? Adobe CS6 uses OpenCL acceleration now. I would look at this article:

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...o,3208-13.html

DxO also uses OpenCL acceleration AFAIK.

Remember, once you get to 20 posts you get free postage from Scan:

    http://forums.hexus.net/scan-care-he...tup-guide.html

Scan also does special offers every weekday too:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/todayonly/index.aspx

The motherboard is not really made for overclocking and neither is the CPU.

The Xeon E3 1230 V2 is a Core i7 3770 with a lower clockspeed and no IGP. The HD7750 will be a good card for OpenCL acceleration, and seems to be better optimised ATM for it than the GT640.

The PSU is modular although OTT for the build. TBH,one of these PSUs would be enough for the build:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/360w-...gold-quiet-fan

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/400w-...an-atx-v23-psu

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/400w-...an-atx-v23-psu

You can also save some money by using the Windows 8 upgrade offer too.

Make sure you also shop around too.

Re: New Desktop to run PS CS6, LR4 and Proshow Producer

I'm losing the will to live with a custom built PC. Noticed prices have gone up too. Scan don't have the memory.......would rather have it all from one place. What a pain. Just frustrating. everywhere I contact say give the sales team a call.....I don't have time for that. I just want to hit the buy button and wait for my PC to arrive. I may even go PC Specialist cause I've no end of good reviews about them. At least everything is in stock.
