Hum. With that price point, and the fact that its a laptop, you wont be getting much gaming out of it. What do you hope on being able to play on it and at what settings? You might be a bit disappointed. Nevertheless, I'll have a look around and see what I can find.

Lenovo E320 is a decent spec for the price but is only a 13.3" screen so may need to look at an external monitor but be careful of stepping up the resolution too much.

    Screen size - 13.3 in
    Processor - Intel Core i5-2450m
    RAM - 4 GB
    Hard Drive - 320GB
Optical Drive - none your need an external one
    Graphics - AMD Radeon 6630m
    Graphics Memory - 1GB
    Warranty - 1 Year
Price - £505 from lenovo themselves

You could save about £15 by doing memory upgrade yourself and it can also take a mSATA SSD as well as a 2.5" drive so you can have a SSD for operating system and hard drive for large storage.

If you can save a little bit more, then Novatech are good, but around 600 quid mark. I have never been quite convinced by laptopsdirect for some reason. Other than that...Dell outlet is a good place to check every day or so.

If I have to choose between above then I will go with first choice Lenovo G570 Core i5. Best choice for me.

At sub £500 for gaming I would suggest you get either a PS3, Xbox-360 or Wii U with some good games and what ever accessories (or even a HDTV) you want. Laptops in this price range will only leave you disappointed as they struggle to play some games decently that are 3-5 years old

Re: Best Gaming Laptop to buy around the 500£ mark ?

What games will you be playing?
If I was you I would ignore acer computers as they can be quite unreliable. Have a look at the Dell XPS laptops, my brother brought one for ~£500 and it plays most games, he plays skyrim, minecraft, crysis 2 and so on with ease. The dell dokdek posted is good and with quidco you can get quite a bit off when a deal comes around.
Also have a look at the Dell Outlet Store it has loads of good refurbished laptops.
