£700 for a video editing laptop

Hi Guys

I'm currently running a Dell Studio XPS16, 4gb RAM, Intel core 2 duo 2.4ghz, Radeon HD 3670.

I'm looking to replace this as it's starting to reach the end of its life has a completely dead (2nd!) battery, dodgy charger, the screen bezel is falling apart, headphone socket and speakers broken etc..

I would also like a bit of an upgrade because most of the stuff i do is HD Video editing using Premiere CS6, Photo editing with Lightroom 4 and Audio mixing in Cubase 4.

I have found 2 Asus laptops under £700. the N55 and N56, both have full HD screens, blu ray player, 750gb hard drive etc. the N56 has a better processor (i7-3610QM instead of the N55's i7-2670QM) butthe N55 more ram (12gb 1333mhz instead of the N56's 8gb 1600mhz) and a better graphics card (635m over the N56's 630m)

Out of these 2, which would you recommend?

Of course, i am MORE than happy to look at other brands or models, but these have been the best speced laptops at a price i can afford!

The 3610QM is a better processor, memory can be upgraded (speed of memory doesn't matter too much) and not sure how much the graphics card effects the performance of the applications you are using but i wouldn't have thought too much. Although looking around a little i can get an msi CX61 with a i7 3630QM 8GB RAM and a GT 645M graphics chip for about £20 under your £700 budget

I've got the N55, but with 6Gb and 640GB HD, and it's served me well for 18 months. Not that I've really pushed it. It's more of a sofa surfer...

Go for N56 Asus laptops or if you want another brand look for Lenovo laptops
