Best options for Replacing Hdd with SSD in Lenovo Z580 ?

Just found out there is no mssd in my Z580 , and am hearing a lot of negative reports on whether the bios can even work with SSD or not .

The other ( I assume safer option ) Ive been thinking of getting one of those HDD bay adapters and using the ssd as hybrid instead.

What do you think, any thoughts any one ?

Would even 60 gb devoted to running Win8 make this worthwhile ?

I have a bay adapter with my old 750gb laptop drive and shoved a 160gb intel SSD in the main HDD slot, laptop will boot in 1/3rd of the time.

    worthwhile? 100% yes

Got one of HDD bay adapers for my work laptop, just make sure the height of the HDD bay matches your DVD tray as there are different size available to purchase... I brought a 9.5mm HDD adapter bay whilst my laptop DVD tray was 12.5mm.

I have mine set as SSD in main HDD of the laptop and the HDD in the HDD bay.

What damm nightmare trying to find the height !!

It doesn't say anything at all on Lenovos site that I can see, but from what i read elsewhere its 12.7mm , so this seems suitable

Im assuming a 00 screwdriver should do the trick ?

I have dell laptop and it look like 12.7mm height according to few site sell caddy however you can measure it if you wish. Just remove the bottom from laptop:

From my image below where I highlighted the screw which I assume is holding in the optical drive, unscrew that and take out the optical drive to measure.

Unfortunately I dont have it here yet to open , Im just worried that this bay might be incompatible as theres 1/2 reviewers saying it made their bay redundant.

I mean if its 17.3 in height when I open it , it should work , right ?

Yes, you can check if your SDD or HDD in the bay is detected in the BIOS screen under SATA ODD.
