Re: My very first Gaming PC
Optical drive? Salvaging one from the old machine?
Seems like a good budget build, don't see any issues, everything is par for the course.
Re: My very first Gaming PC
I was thinking about an Optical Drive, the one from my old machine will most likely not work so I may just get one, thanks :D
Re: My very first Gaming PC
After some reading on MSI's forum, it seems there some problems between Sandforce SSDs and MSI (Haswell) motherboards. So if you plan to have that board, might wanna look at non-Sandforce SSDs.

I don't know, could you maybe specifically link me to the actual topics saying that. I don't want to run into any problems :/

I linked to the forum in general because the G45 is mentioned by name in about two dozen threads.

Then don't use Sandforce crap based SSDs period. It's as simple as that :)

Re: My very first Gaming PC
I'd recommend one of those decent Samsung SSD drives the 840's are a decent set, so my friends say.
Re: My very first Gaming PC
I don't understand on what basis you call a product crap! I was adviced that sandforce based SSDs are the best ones right now in terms of performance & stability. Intel is a good example of the quality of sandforce SSDs. If sandforce were to be all time faulty, Intel would surely have got away from sandforce. I have been using their products & do not notice any drop in quality & am reasonably happy :)
Re: My very first Gaming PC
Not bad for a first build.

I wouldn't say bad for a second, or third build either ;)
Re: My very first Gaming PC
Are you sure 128GB SSD is enough?
I have a 256gb 840 pro, and with windows + CS + 1 game im ~ half full, you van pickup a 250gb samsung evo//250gb crucial m5xx for not too much these days
Re: My very first Gaming PC
The 250/ 256GB SSDs have come into a favourable price to performance ratio now, so it's well worth considering one to use for your most used programs/ games. I personally think the H100i is overkill for your setup - you could save money and get a H80i, which is more than capable. I used an H80i with a i5 3570k and even at 4.3 - .5 GHz it ran at relatively cool temperatures.
Re: My very first Gaming PC
That 760W PSU looks a little overkill, a 650W should be okay and provide a fair amount of headroom for OCing. nVidias GPUs aren't as power hungry as an AMD.
In terms of SSDs, I've heard a lot about the Samsung 840s degradation. The 850 Evos are well received though, so it's worth the money.
