Hi all. been after a replacement laptop for me n the missus for a while after her HP G62 crapped out on us. I'm not looking for anything super snazzy. Ideally want it to be around the £400 mark but the cheaper the better.
Been looking at i3/i5 laptops, 4Gb of ram at least. On passmark the HD4600 is scoring pretty high, around the GT620M sort of mark?
I was reading on Toms hardware I think, that AMD IGP's are better than Intel's. Dunno how much to read into that though.
15" screen is cool. Resolution on most is pretty crappy though. 1366x768 seems super low. Price jumps up a lot any higher though it seems.
HDD wants to be around the 500GB mark. However, if it can fit in the price range at all it would be great to have an SSD in there too for the OS.
Not got an SSD in any of my PC's but I installed one in a mates laptop recently and its just super convenient. I knew they were fast but starting windows is super fast compared to any of my PC's.
Speaking of OS. If I can save some money by not having one pre-installed that would be handy. If it comes with windows 8 its just gonna be wiped and have 7 put on it.
The laptop is mainly gonna be used for a work, office and such. But will occasionally be used to play a game or two. A mate has an Intel HD 3000 and hes able to play Skyrim apparently. Don't know how much truth there is to that though.
Honestly don't care if it has a CD drive or not. USB 3 would be nice. Ehhh... probably missing lots of key points. I honestly don't know a great deal about current laptop hardware.
So yeah. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Cheers people
