Esxi server
I appreciate that this will likely be met with derision but... Is there a laptop which can run Esxi and hyper-v reasonably well? I'm thinking 16gb+ maybe a 512gb ssd etc?
I need to augment a home lab and I would like low(er) power devices with built in screens which can live in a cupboard.
Does such a device exist?

Re: Esxi server
I was at a partner event a few months back and one of the VMware guys ran his entire lab from his laptop - I think it was a HP ZBook of some sort, though it may also have been some other mobile workstation.

Re: Esxi server
Yep - all my team use big laptops for their lab setup - I have an older Dell M4600 with 32Gb RAM & a pair of SSD's . I use VMware workstation ontop of windows , then nest hypervisors within.
If you can live without the screen requirement , then intel NUC's seem to step up to home lab duties pretty well.

Re: Esxi server
I'm sure it would work fine though I have only seem people run VMware Workstation, just seems an expensive solution with things like the Brix available off the shelf.

Re: Esxi server
getting ESI to run natively on a laptop might be tricky , its a piece of cake to run it nested though. Not come across those brix - assume they are all based on the NUC?

Re: Esxi server
Almost any intel laptop I would expect to run ESX fine. Of course you won't have some of the more advanced features but then I doubt your going to miss those functions.
