Bah a google search didn't bring anything up
Funny the spec options on the US / UK websites are not the same making UK pricing hard to compare, the only spec I can get to match is by selecting (on the US site, use link in original post):
i7-6700HQ
512Gb SSD
16Gb RAM
15.6" 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) InfinityEdge touch
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 960M with 2GB GDDR5
Battery size isn't confirmed on the UK site but assumed to be the larger 84Whr given the UHD Touch display (which seems to define which battery you get on the US site)
US Price = $2149.00 (select the option with the 256Gb SSD then upgrade on the config screen to get this price)
UK Price = £1549.00
If you do the math = $2149 / 1.53 (conversion rate) = £1404.57 + 20% VAT = £1685.49, so given we're getting it at £1549 it seems we're getting the better price? (note there's £50 off if you use the code PREMIUMSALE until 14 Oct so it's currently £1499)
One of my colleagues has just received his. It's a work PC, but his employer is a good one. He has the £1,800 model with a 1TB PCIe Solid State Drive. I can assure you that it feels as good as it looks, it flies on most jobs and will play The Witcher 3 with high quality at 1920 x 1080. I have the previous XPS 15, which I loved until I saw the newer model. Seriously though, £1,800?
(Thanks Evilmunky)
Eagles may soar, but weasels never get sucked into jet intakes.
So many problems with the 9530 range (I own the top model) that I will not make the same mistake twice!
Dell lie and ignore issues sending out identical motherboards for repair yet claim it is an updated version, I had 4 new 9530's before I gave up.

I ended up opting for the Latitude 7000 series instead. Just need to add an extra 8Gb RAM and M.2 2280 SSD to it when it gets to me (slots are readily available).
Core i7 6700HQ (2.6Ghz, Quad core with HT, upto 3.5Ghz Turbo Boost)
8Gb DDR3 1600Mhz RAM
nVidia GTX 960M with 4GB GDDR5
4k Touch display
1Tb mechanical drive (for general storage, I'll install windows on the SSD)
6 cell 74 Whr battery.
approx. £800 for the base spec + 250Gb SSD cost + 2nd 8Gb RAM (approx £100 extra).
£900 all in.
There are consumer protection laws for such cases.
Also I have heard (and seen) a lot of bad stuff happening with dell. Yet nothing of the sort for the new xps 13, most people love theirs, if only it weren't that expensive...
I would love to get the new xps 15 because for me the specs aren't all that important, but I would like to have a device with 15" screen and under 2kg and this is one of the very rare model achieving that (and having a gorgeous screen is a massive plus) note that 14 or 13.3" models under 2kg don't really count for this comparison.
But does anyone know of a 15" laptop decently under 2kg?
Please, how can I get it and shipped to Nigeria.. .
Now this is ironic, I phoned up dell to get the fan replaced for the 3rd time, they suggested replacing the motherboard at the same time even though the 1st fan failed due to it being on 12 hours a day 7 days a week (kinda expected imo) 2nd was noisy so I got it swapped for a 3rd that started to vibrate after 6 weeks (even after taking out and cleaning up like new).
I raised my concerns over a motherboard swap due to this being the 4th laptop I had replaced due to the coil whine in the 1st 6 months and asked if they had any of the brand new mainboards for it as I had seen some in the wild.
The reply was simply, well we can replace the laptop. With a new one I asked. Yes he replied.
So now I have a 512gb 9550 on order
Who am I to argue with a faster CPU and GPU, fingers crossed it doesn't have the space bar issue but I have seen a fix for that already.
Also eyeing up the 950 pro 512gb to replace the sm951 it has.
The 1tb 840 evo mSata will be up for sale on here in due course.

ooh glad I saw this thread. Was toying with getting the XPS15 for its screen. Sounds like there are issues with the new 15... Should I just stick with the 13?
Gonzo, what spacebar thing do you mean?
OK rather than try and hunt down a competent how to of something that you shouldn't need to fix may I present this twonk who gives you an idea of the problem. He is far from a laptop tech and his methods shouldn't be employed but at least it shows the fault, I would personally go as far as removing the entire keyboard and using some really good glue to hold the ribbon down rather than his half assed job, but I would be happy to remove the entire mainboard to get the keyboard out but that is a 100% complete rebuild. I would expect manufacturing to nip this one in the bud in the next few months though.

DEll are now on the 9550 - presume this problem would not be an issue with the new model?
