Hi all.

Not posted in a while but need some help with this.

A work mate of mine ask me to help with this laptop. She said she was using it when it came up with configuration then shut itself down.
Now when you press the power button the battery and charge light comes on but the screen is blank. I can hear the cpu fan spinning but there is hard drive activate and not HD light on the front.

Try changing out the HD and tested the ram and also tried plugging to external monitor but still nothing.

Can anyone help with this as I don't have a clue as to what else to check.

Have you done a power drain by taking out the battery and unplugging the charger and holding down the power button for a few seconds?
have you tried powering it without the battery?
is the power light or any other light flashing?
have you tried taking out the cmos battery?
when plugging in an external display it will not always default to it. you may have to use the f keys and or with fn keys and then use the down arrow once or twice followed by enter as this is normally displayed on the first display.

it might be worth checking the screen cable as they can become loose

Toshiba's should blink a fault code from one of the power LED's in morse code, if you can get that I can dig up my service manual.

Hi both, thanks for your replies.
After much searching around, I think the graphic chip has passed away.
Fan still spins and led is on but no HD light

No fault code on this I think.

Also nothing on external, there is no HD or boot activity

Always worth pulling the BIOS battery on those before you give up.
