HP ENVY 13-ad013na - OK for photoshop?

I'm interested in buying an Envy 13 laptop with either I5 or I7 processor & MX150 GPU. Although it won't be my main machine, want to be able to edit photos using Photoshop/Lightroom but I've seen reports of CPU throttling even with the I7 model when playing games or using Photoshop - one owner on Amazon reported the laptop slowing to almost a stop after editing with Photoshop for just 20 minutes.

As I said, won't be my main machine and I'm not into gaming but hoped it would be at least ok for photo editing with Photoshop. Any thoughts folks?

Based on what I've seen from AMD's imminent mobile APU's I'd be waiting on these before making a purchase. I heard rumours of quad core + HT, and integrated GPU using on 15W power...

Not so much rumours as officially announced products: http://hexus.net/tech/news/cpu/11147...vega-graphics/

Apparently the AMD-powered Acer Swift 3 has been designed to dissipate 25W of heat; it will use the higher end of the cTDP to get better performance...

EDIT: All that said - any 13.3" laptop is going to struggle for performance as the smaller size limits how much heat you can dissipate. I'd expect 13" Ryzen Mobile laptops to perform noticeably slower than 15" ones, too...

Thanks chaps Must admit I'm torn between something small & handy to take away on holiday etc and something like a 15" model...

For Photoshop, the most important aspect will be the screen - the rest of the specs IMHO are not as important. You want something which is colour accurate and not too glossy IMHO.

I’ve used the i5 model of this at work and it’s a pretty snappy machine, the fans do spin up a lot though as it’s so thin so I’m guessing the heat sinks are pretty small. I didn’t have a chance to look in to thermal throttling though.
