Question Please Please Please Give Me New Laptop Help!

Needing a new laptop as my ~6 year old Vaio is getting a bit long in the tooth.

Budget is as close to £1000 as possible.
From Friday 19th Oct until Thurs 26th Oct I get 20% off on laptops on Tesco Direct, as long as they're sold by Tesco, and not a third party seller.
This is important as it allows my budget to then rise to around £1,250 if purchased from them.

    Needs;
    ~15" Display please.
To be able to play a few games as I might eventually get rid of my desktop. So gaming laptops a definite possibility, if not a certainty.
Ideally have at least a 256GB SSD for the fast booting, but also have another hard drive internally.
    Ideally i7 Core processor.
To at least appear good value for money in current market.

Been out of the loop in terms of desktops, nevermind laptops, for a while so any help will be greatly appreciated.
Please give any reasoning behind any choices suggested, as this will also help.

    Thanks.

On Tesco, even taking into account your discount, the best GPU you'd get in a laptop in your budget is a GTX 1050. Just a quick google for "GTX 1060 laptop" has thrown up this for £950, but there are probably better deals out there - https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/msi-...91/version.asp

That looks quite good, have heard that the quality of MSI is questionable though, dunno whether this is true or not really?
Have only ever had a Dell and Sony Vaio, though my dad has a budget level Asus.

Maybe this isn't the best time to buy? Expect there will be loads of laptops in the sale, but whether some of them will be any good remains to be seen.

MSI apparently make some decent high end gaming laptops IIRC. Also Sony does not make laptops anymore.

You did miss on some better deals by a few days though:

    https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/hp-...-store-2810305

    Edit!!

This is the best deal currently available although the screen is bigger:

    http://www.argos.co.uk/product/67730...referrer=COJUN

It has a GTX1060 6GB and not the slower 3GB version.

    Second Edit!!

Box has quite a few models with the GTX1060 available for around £900 to £1100:

Was hoping you'd show up CTF, always delivering, think you've helped me before!

Nooooooooooooo, looks like I've missed out on some really good deals there as well. I check HUKD literally every day so that's really annoying!!

I'm not really, really desperate so I'm willing to bide my time if it looks like there will be bargains upcoming, just don't want to miss them again

Black Friday is Nov 24th, it could be worth waiting for then, or even the January sales?

That's what I'm thinking. Just trying to keep one eye open while waiting I guess.

Not been that impressed with the January sales in more recent years, although I've never been searching for a laptop during this time!
