eluktronics - anyone heard of them?
I ask as I'm on the hunt for a new laptop, preferably 17" & AMD powered, battery life unimportant, for my father to do create/edit/produce music on (he does a bit of sound engineering for a local band). I stumbled across the above while reading comments on a Hardware Unboxed slating of the TUF A15's cooling and iffy display.
Had a quick look at their site and they've currently got a 17" 4800H/RTX2060 (512GB NVMe+16GB) for a pre-order price of £1087, which for the spec and it's intended use seems to be damned near ideal... well... possibly a wee bit OTT on the GPU perhaps... for a decent price but until now I've never heard of the brand.
Re: eluktronics - anyone heard of them?
I haven't heard of them, no, and that would make me very cautious indeed. In fact, just for peace of mind, I'd go for a supplier that's a known quantity, even if it meant more money. If I couldn't spend more for a known supplier, I'd cut the spec rather than take the chance. Maybe I'm too risk-averse, but that would be my reaction.
Re: eluktronics - anyone heard of them?
That's my reaction too, apparently they market the same kit as XMG (Core) in Germany/across mainland Europe, who I have heard of and spec wise (after having a quick look) are exactly the same. The trouble comes down to finding a compnay that's making a 17" AMD 4000 series based laptop that isn't an Asus TUF machine (iffy screen and crap cooling aside are fugly looking things).
