    3rd party laptop batteries

Has anyone had any joy with 3rd party lithium laptop batteries? Dell have conveniently stopped selling ones for my laptop just as it reaches the point of needing a new one. (How convenient). Apparently a £2k windows 10 laptop is now "obsolete". FFS. Last time I buy from them.

There seem to be lots of random chinese brands out there, but something with appropriate safeguards that won't explode/burn my house down would be ideal if anyone knows of a good one.

    Joy, yes. Recently though? Nope.

The battery died on an old NEC laptop and a third-party battery did the trick just fine. HOWEVER .... the first hint on when that was is "NEC laptop". The second is it was an Athlon 1700, IIRC. Nice machine in it's day, though.

My conclusion, back then, was it can work, but by 'eck is it a minefield. I doubt today is much diferent.
