    New computer

    I've got a budget of about 700-800 for a computer to do work on/ play some games and listen to music on.

    The best spec i've found so far:
    * AMD Athlon™ 64 3500+ Processor
    * 1024MB DDR400 RAM (PC3200) Memory
    * 200GB Serial ATA (150Mb/s) Ultra Fast Hard Drive
    * 128MB ATI Radeon X700 - PCI-Express
    * 17" TFT Flat Panel LCD Monitor
    * SONY 16x Dual Layer DVD-RW (R/W all standard formats)*
    * 5.1 Surround Sound 6 Channel Audio
    * Creative Labs SBS260 Stereo Speakers
    * Internet Ready V.92 56Kbps data/fax/voice modem

    £699 (750 inc vat and del.)

    Does anyone know of any better deals?
    I already have 2GiB of decent crucial ram and an mx1000 mouse.
    Thank you!!

    Okay so your missing a floppy drive (who uses one nowadays unless its for bios updates?), 56k modem (Okay hands up all you peeps who havent joined the broadband revoloution), keyboard and mouse. Should only take you less than a day to get it up and running.

    System uses onboard sound (i'm guessing the system you propose to buy does aswell), better graphics card, better processor, better speakers, probably a better monitor aswell. Why buy a ready made, when you can make your own better one for only a little bit more?

    you can ditch the memory out of that if you've already got some crucial stuff, then that reduces the price slightly, if that helps. Or alternatively use the money from deleting the extra RAM to get the AN8 from abit.

    Dave

    I think the guy is buying an already made system

    I was just showing him what he could make, but yes he could get rid of the cost of the memory from what i posted. But theres not much point adding a more expensive m/b on there.

    Probably just the motherboard, theres not much point in you paying so much for the Nvidia SLI feature when you are using an ATI graphics card.
    You might aswell get a cheaper motherboard without the SLI feature and upgrade your graphics card to one that has 12 pipelines (the one i suggested) instead of 8 pipelines (the one you suggested).
