Is there a cheaper way to run, say, Photoshop on multiple PC's without having to spend a fortune on a separate copy for each PC?

Could you use a Terminal Server, and only have one copy of Photoshop on the server, but maybe multiple copies running at the same time? What about for Word/Excel and so on?

Say you need 10PC's to have access to Photoshop, what would be the best way? 10 copies of photoshop or 1 copy and 10 server CAL's?

Terminal server + photoshop + multi-users is going to be slow. You might need like 8~16GB of memory if you're going to run 10 copies of PS in the terminal service, and fast raid array as temporary storage for PS.

Your server is going to be hell expensive. So you may end up with the same cost (except you got faster hardware for other stuff)

is there any type of software that say, you buy 5 licences of photoshop, install it on all 10 pcs, but the pc needs to connect to a licence server to run, and only 5 pcs can run photoshop at any one time?

I dont think that works with PS - I've seen it with some of the Autocad products though.

you can't use a terminal server as a getaround as you'd still need 10 licences I suspect ( eg with office 2003 on a TS box you still need a licenece for every user that connects. )

why not look at one of the open source alternatives such as gimp ?

IIRC the cheapest way to volume license Adobe stuff in the UK is to buy it from a VAR in the US.
Askyourself if "Everyone Needs" PS, or would some of them be more suited to a cheaper alternative?
