Good spot!! You are right the CX430W uses SamXon capacitors.

Also another point is that when you look at the numbers the +12v in not going up much with the total wattage, it's being padded on the 5v & 3.3v

However where did the SamXon data come from CAT? as SamXon are actually very good.

Does sound iffy....guess it could take 6 months+ to tell if they truly have problems or not.

But with the fairly recent realisation of how important a PSU is (and corair being one of the main companies to harp on about it) I am surprised that the specs do seem lower, rather then higher.

Re: The new Corsair CX range looks crap!

For the high end HX VX or AX corsair are great, but their low end stuff is starting to look sub par, yes still better no-brand el-cheapo.

If they Produced the CX range as a cheap budget range from the start it's wouldn't be so bad but they started it with a great unit, worth every penny if not more and are now following it with lower cost lower quality units with the outward figures massaged to make them look better.

Re: The new Corsair CX range looks crap!

I have to agree with Pob and CAT, this is very poor show from corsair and not at all what i expected. Given that their brand name has been something renowned of high performance in all areas it comes as a bit of a shock to find they are abusing it. I actually have one of the 400s in my media centre/server and its perfect; low noise, very cool and well built.
There are plenty of other high quality power supplies at a reasonable cost so its no big deal, if your seriously looking for a recommendation then just post up asking for advice and im sure we can find something (seasonic S12 330, silverstone strider 400w and the silverpower units spring to mind). I just feel sorry for anyone who gets fooled by the trickery.

Baring mind these units will be low cost so the lack of review units going out shouldnt be a big deal as people will just buy them and review them anyway, hell if anyone is up for it, has the equipment and time i will buy them one to do it! Lets just hope they get slated for it and it forces them to get their act together!

I thought the title was a bit harsh.

"The new cx series are suprising sub standard compared to some of the great stuff corsair has ben releasing recently."

They are all CWT units iirc.

he could have at least provided with an accurate source proving the contrary to what had been suggested.

Re: The new Corsair CX range looks crap!

    Interesting!!

Supposedly the CX430W is now 80+ certified:

    http://www.corsair.com/power-supplie...x400w-211.html

Is still says upto 80% efficiency on their website and the official 80+ plus list has no mention of the CX430W:

    http://www.plugloadsolutions.com/80P...x?id=25&type=2

Interestingly the CX400W is between 81% to 84% efficient.

These CX corsair are pretty weak compared to rest of their range.
