OK so I have a Tagan power supply that for some unknown reason will not supply power to SATA devices. PATA no problem but SATA oh no. I buy a replacement power supply.
However, sometime afterwards whilst fumbling around in the loft I find the power supply box which has a big flash on the side "3 year warranty". I dig out my original receipt and I've got 7 days to claim. So I send several emails and amazingly I am asked to return the PS to somewhere in St Helens or Warrington and some days later a power supply is returned in the post. As I'd already replaced the faulty PS I had no immediate use for it.
Cut to December 2010 (no more than 18 months later) I realise I've got everything to construct a 'file server' and get rid of all those USB HDs. So I put it all together and it won't boot. I assume it's either chip or mobo or memory and dash to Scan to buy cheap replacements. Get home put it all together and it still won't boot??? Whilst I'm checking Internet for help I leave PS tester attached to PS. About half an hour later I hear a strange beep and when I look at PS tester, all lights are now lit up (previously only one was, but as there's no info on packaging as to what lights mean I was none the wiser). So I get it all up and running.
Anyhow about 3 weeks later File Server refuses to boot. A while after switching on mains, ping it comes on.
So PS that I got under Warrant replacement was obviously faulty. What can I do?![]()
