    PSU and case questions

So I'm building a media centre computer out of spare parts and all I need now is the power supply. I have been advised that cheap psu's are a false economy, so the question is what is the cheapest power supply that would be recommended. This is a cheap build so the cheapest reasonable one would be appreciated.

I'm probably going to put this in a coolermaster centurion 5 case which I have lying around. However I might end up putting this in a matx case. With slim matx cases I'm assuming you need a matx psu?

My thinking and correct me if I'm wrong is that for a matx case like this:
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus-...x-tower-no-psu
I need an atx psu and a matx psu wont fit

    and with:
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/cit-s...r-case-w-o-psu
    I'd need a matx psu

    Is that correct?
Can I put a matx psu in an atx full tower case or is the fitting different?

    Thanks for any help.

    Re: PSU and case questions

The first one yes, it does use an ATX psu
these are some of the best images of the insides I could find http://www.agito.pl/obudowy/asus-tm-....0.336311.html

the colors-it one, I don't know, I can find nothing on it except that stock picture.
Best bet would be to contact scan and ask.

    Re: PSU and case questions

What size motherboard are you goint to use?
I am asking because there are a few itx cases in the F/S section.

Matx psu should fit into atx case as I am usinf the FSP 400w matx psu in the lian li q11, which will support a full size atx psu.

Was just using them as examples but thanks for the info. I was just assuming that the slim matx cases used matx psus but I guess its case specific.

I have a matx mobo (foxconn cinema deluxe II). Might buy a matx psu if it'll work in a tower case and possibly a future matx case.
