    Novatech psu

    Hi

Does anyone know anything about novatech power supplies? I am specifically referring to the novatech gold 750w. Its priced at £110 which for me is pretty good value for a gold psu. Efficiency is quite good (87.46%@20% 90.81%@50% 89.96%@100%). For comparison the Corsair AX750 is around 20 pounds more expensive and maybe a little over budget for me. The HX750 is similarly priced (to the novatech) but I've heard the fan isn't the quietest.

Would you recommend this psu? Any other info would be appreciated. Thanks

I would go with the Corsair HX mate, the fans are really silent tbh

It's a question many of us have wondered about, spec wise the PowerStation line is great value for cost.

Speculation is that they are rebranded OCZ's

What are you trying to power?

Other lower cost gold rated psu's worth looking at are
    Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold
    Cougar GX Gold
    Be Quiet EP 80plus Gold

    Re: Novatech psu

    Hello,

Yes these are very high quality PSU's made in the same factory as some of the better known brands, using the same high quality components. Our aim here at Novatech is to bring the customer a high quality product without paying for the brand name.
The automatically regulated 140mm fan allows for ample cooling whilst keeping the rotation speed to a minimum by adjusting the roation speed according to load, making these units as near silent as possible.
Purchase with confidence you will not be dissapointed.

    Re: Novatech psu

OK, Thank's, and welcome to HEXUS

Nice to see someone from Novatech on here. (reminds me I must get around to bugging novatech about laptops)

    unfortunately the statement
very high quality PSU's made in the same factory as some of the better known brands
is way to vague esp for a site like this.
Who is this manufacture? Seasonic? CWT? FSP? HEC? Enhance? Topower? Delta? AcBel? you wnat me to go on?
What model is it based on?

Have you considered sending one out for review? with one of the better PSU review sites, granted jonnyguru and hardwaresecrets are both US based, so not great for a uk company, but kitguru.net is uk based afaik and they do a good job when looking at psu's, or how about talking to hexus

    Re: Novatech psu

Thanks for all your replies (including novatech).

I had a little dig around the ecova website, and it seems that the output figures of novatech psus are identical to that of High Power, a Sirtec brand. I don't think they are modified as they have to deliver an affidavit basically declaring the psu is unmodified from the original design, well that's my understanding anyway. Of course warranty + packaging will vary by brand.

    Re: Novatech psu

It would be nice to have some sort of review of this psu, kinda hard to evaluate when there is so little info. I would love to have a reason to buy this, but as it is I may have to settle for a more established brand.

    Re: Novatech psu

You're right it is very hard and Mr Farmer should return and answer Pobs questions because until then I would be very wary of buying one of his PSUs..

I'm sorry but when you fly in like that, sqauwk and flutter off leaving a note about how good a fan is I am not impressed in the slightest.

    Re: Novatech psu

    I would check this thread:

    http://forums.hexus.net/pc-hardware/...tion-psus.html

There are also these threads on the Novatech website:

    http://forum.novatech.co.uk/showthre...erStation-PSUs

    http://forum.novatech.co.uk/showthre...own-under-load

The main chap at JonnyGuru says that the Novatech units he saw were made by Sirfa. It also seems due to some research done by Novatech forum members, it seems High Power is also used for some units. Both these OEMs are used by OCZ too.

It would be nice if Novatech did confirm the OEMs they used.

    Re: Novatech psu

I'm very circumspect about unbranded PSUs, and I'd rather pay a few pounds extra for one of known good provenance.

However, I have sent a PM to Darryl, inviting him to come back and answer these queries raised.

Personally, I haven't had a problem with Novatech stuff, but a PSU is such a fundamental part of a system, that I would want to be absolutely certain about what I was buying.

    Re: Novatech psu

Hi, can't see the better brands, or Novatech's Wholesaler liking it, if Novatech drop it out, its same PSU they sell branded but cheaper.
Would imagine if PSU review site, takes one apart & finds out what it equates to, thats a different matter.

    Cheers BOB

    Hello all,

Sorry for delay in replying. I cant disclose the manufactuer it would cause problems in the market. I also appreciate when making a large purchase like this you want to know what your getting for your money. I will look towards getting some units out for review in the very near future.

    Many Thanks
    Daryl

I understand what you're saying - But how would it cause a problem in the market? That's more of a problem for Novatech.

It's not like someone can't crack one open and find the OEM if they want to anyway.
