Question Can this cause a psu to burnout

Is it possible for a psu to burnout if the pc is trying to draw too much power in amperes?

Re: Can this cause a psu to burnout

If it is a cheapy PSU yes. If it is quality there will be some sort of OVP (over voltage protection) and OCP (over current protection) to turn the power supply off to protect it.

Cheap PSUs may have OCP, but are rated too high, meaning the OCP and OVP won't kick in until its drawing too much power for the thing to handle.

Cheap PSUs have bad quality capacitors, and are usually light if you pick them up. Less components inside.

OEM are usually standard cheapy PSUs. if it is cheap such as rated 500W, it may only be able to give 400W.

Some cheap 500W wont even give you 400W, 300W if your lucky!
