Modular, circa 500w (maybe more), quiet - What PSU?

    Afternoon all,

I've got a Lian Li PC-A05FNB which is a little tight for space. I had installed my current Seasonic S12 500w PSU in there, but tbh, it was messy and not helping air flow. Pulling it apart after a RAID failure, it has finally got on my nerves, so a modular PSU is on the shopping list.

Sadly, I've lost track of who is good and who is not. So, who do the knowledgeable HEXites recommend for PSU duty?

It is going to power (currently) the system on the left, q6600, hd4850, few hard drives & an ssd. May upgrade to iSomething in the future, so would be helpful to cater for that too. Remember it is in a compact Lian Li chassis, so I don't think I'll be going SLi etc anytime soon.

Quality more important than saving a few pence, but equally don't need something entirely overkill. Modular is a must!

    Recommendations very much appreciated

500w should be fine for that and things haven't changed much in the psu world seasonic is still the name to look for and it's more than likely you'll just end up with another s12 in a different skin, although it'll probably be the s12ii bronze
    eg http://www.ebuyer.com/327893-ocz-pc-...ppcmk3s500w-uk
If you're really want minimum cable mess and you're up for a small challange, then mod your seasonic.

Rather quiet on the suggestions front - people must be enjoying the sunshine

The PC Power & Cooling PSU is an OCZ made one, isn't it? Any good?

Modding the Seasonic is an option, but I have the soldering skills of an ape. That said, I could put a single Molex in place of each molex or sata power run, then create custom cables that ended in that connection? The cables on my Seasonic aren't braided, so they just end up looking messy....

PC power and cooling are good
    Corsair upper end are good
    Antec High Current are good
    XFX XXX/Pro are good
    NZXT Hale are good

    I'd probably go for this:
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/520w-...t-fan-atx12v-v

    Though it's only semi-modular.

There's always the modular version of your seasonic:
