Question Need a decent 500-550W PSU

I was thinking of getting the OCZ CoreXStream 500W, but it's out of stock on Scan and I REALLY don't feel like dealing with Amazon/Dabs/Ebuyer because they all use HDNL, despite what a disaster it is. Anyone have an idea for similar PSU with a similar price tag?

Or if you're feeling lucky get a modular 87% eff http://www.scan.co.uk/products/620w-...-quiet-fan-psu

Or if you're in a hurry as the above is out of stock and also want to save some money:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/630w-...et-fan-atx-psu

    Semi-modular but that's still a bonus

Well you are going to really struggle to find a decent PSU at that kinda price, which is why people are suggesting models that are double the price you were hoping for.

If you really need 500w this is the cheapest acceptable model that is in stock imo:

If you can get away with slightly less than 500w then there are some cheaper 'be quiet' models.
What graphics card do you have?

I didn't say every model was double the price, perhaps I should have said up to double the price.

All I said about the FSP model was that it was acceptable quality in my opinion. FSP are a highly reputable manufacturer.
Against that specific OCZ model, I'm not really sure, the 80 plus isn't the only measure of quality.

And it is undeniably more similar in price to the model the OP was referring to.

XFX HD 6870, the one with two fans, which leads me to remember I need a PSU with 2x 6pin PCI-E connectors

Well all the PSUs suggested have 2 6pin connectors, although you will probably find you have an adapter anyway.

Can the OP list the other parts in their computer and are they overclocking??

TBH,this PSU would power an HD6870:

Yeah as long as nothing crazy is going on with the other components.

But sadly that isn't in stock either.

I just installed an Antec HCG 520w modular bought from Scan. Very good PSU, quiet and from what I read it is made by Seasonic. Worth considering.
