    Is this PSU good enough?

    My Build
    CPU: i5 3570k
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H
    Graphics Card Gigabyte HD 7770
    Hdd: Seagate 1TB (ST31000524AS) *3
    RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz *2

I'm looking at this PSU. Is this good enough? If not, can you suggest one with the same connectors for about the same price?

Re: Is this PSU good enough?

    +1 recommendation for the XFX.
If you want to save a little cash, you could cut one of those 8GB RAM sticks. 16GB is überkill.
And while they're on sale, maybe change those hard-drives for 3 of http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1tb-s...he-8ms-ncq-oem
    Assuming you've not bought yet.

Re: Is this PSU good enough?

You don't need anywhere close to 650W, but you do want to choose a reliable quality brand such as suggested above.

You could happily take the wattage down to at least 450 although many of those models are out of stock.

You steered me away from XFX with the graphics card, are their power supplies are better?

The RAM and hard drives have already arrived. I know it's overkill, but too much is better that too little right?

I was worried I'd not have enough wattage, but reliability is more important.

Re: Is this PSU good enough?

There PSUs are made by Seasonic so yes they are very good.

I would stick with 650w as it allows room for upgrade in the future

Re: Is this PSU good enough?

Yeah but he has a restricted budget I think.

I mean I'd probably get something like this:
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/650w-...et-fan-atx-psu

But maybe he isn't thinking quite as long term as me.

Re: Is this PSU good enough?

Yes, my budget is quite restricted, I'm already a bit over, but that's ok if it means my build will work. Thank you anyway.

Yeah, i know, and yeah they are. As already mentioned their power supplies are Seasonic internally, which is about as good as it gets. And Seasonic are the go to guys for PSU reliability. Any Seasonic PSU you can get within your budget that provides the wattage you need is the way.

Someone has to mention Corsair, they are just as good as Seasonic.

Agreed with the post that says you only need 450W to run that system, so if you're on a budget go for that but if you can afford more then get it and you won't need a new PSU next time you build.

Well it depends, some Corsair designs are from Seasonic, but not all of them.

Arguably in the future you won't need a more powerful PSU as power requirements are only going to decrease, unless you needed a substantial graphics upgrade and even then I suspect everyone bar the most hardcore could get away with 550W or less.

650W is plenty for that setup, and i would always go for Corsair PSU's, they actually put out the power there rated at unlike most other brands.

Don't Seasonic, Antec, XFX, NXZT, Enermax, EVGA, OCZ or Silverstone then?
