Upgrading my UPS (which will probably explode if the power trips..)

    Hello!

So i've currently got a 750VA APC ups on my main PC - and if you'll notice from my sig my PC will very likely *eat it alive* should the power drop. So, i'm guessing I need something with a little more ooomphhh - i.e. about 1500VA. The main goal is to protect it from power anomalies, brown outs and to give me time to shutdown in the event of power loss.

    So questions..

Do I need a PFC compatible UPS? Seems that there once was a problem with active PFC PSU not playing well with UPS' with stepped approximations of sine waves but does anyone know if this is still the case or in any other way desirable? My current unit is stepped and the only downside is the PSU will buzz/whine very very faintly when the PC is off (and it's worked fine for 3 years).

APC or... what? I've seen quite a few good reviews for cyberpower kit and APC stuff looks expensive by comparison. This one caught my eye:

    I got one of these:

I'm running a server, a NAS box and two USB HDD drives from and it never blinks an eye. Had a few power cuts recently and it coped beautifully.

I have an APC 750 for my main PC but if/when it dies I'll replace it with an FPS.

Thanks another choice - don't know much about FPS

I'm running an overclocked i7 with SLI 670s though so i'd need one of their larger units I think..

You can see my system specs on the left. Surfing the web is only pulling 120W from the UPS and shows it could run for 43 mins on battery (thats the 750va UPS) so it really depends on how much time you want to run on battery. I would suggest that the 10000va would be ample.
