Concerns over PSU choice for Scan 3xS build
Long time, no post ;)
I've placed an order with Scan for a customised Z77 Vengeance OC. With most of the categories, I opted to go with the upsell if it was only around £20 in it. However, I forgot to do this for the PSU, leaving the ordered build with the "600W Corsair Gaming Series, 80PLUS Bronze (Single Graphics Card)", rather than going up to the 650W.
I believe that the build hasn't yet started on my order, so I've got a chance to reconsider this, and I thought I'd get some input on the matter.
I'm going for a quiet system in a different case, only overclocking to 4.4GHz and sticking with a single GPU (680). Currently specced with two SSDs and one HDD, but I can see myself adding more of both types of storage over the years.
The 850W GPU is clearly overkill, but should I get the build switched to the 650W? Or perhaps a different PSU - but which?
Thanks for all your help :)

You should be OK,although I am not certain for a multi-card setup though.
Re: Concerns over PSU choice for Scan 3xS build
Yeah 600W is fine for a single 680, you'd need more for 680 SLI, but that's kinda overkill atm and by the time you need to upgrade you are probably better off replacing it with another single powerful card. Adding extra drives really doesn't make much difference unless you are super tight already which you aren't.
Re: Concerns over PSU choice for Scan 3xS build
600w will be fine - my 3770K @ 4.6 and 660TI only pulls 324w from the wall at full pelt. Allowing for your 680 and the fact its 80 plus bronze you shouldnt be pulling any more than 450w from the wall IMHO.

I've been trying to decide between the same issue... Not sure if there is enough of a difference between 600W and 650W to warrant the extra £20.
Re: Concerns over PSU choice for Scan 3xS build
Like the others on here, I'd definitely say the 600w is sufficient for a single card set up. My corsair 520w psu has been chugging along perfectly for years now on 2 different builds and I haven't had any problems. Granted I'm only running a 6850 but I've been told it's not much different power consumption-wise from a 7950. I'm running 2 ssds and a hdd too and they're not particularly power hungry so I'd say you should be fine, maybe put that £20 towards a GPU upgrade fund? :)
Re: Concerns over PSU choice for Scan 3xS build
the 600W is more than enough. Power requirements for nvidia cards have started to go down now thankfully! :)
the 650W is also modular so it might be worth looking at using this model if you want a clean inside and are using a chassis with a windowed panel.
