    OC with XFX 550w

Hi fellas, I'm wondering whether it will be a good idea to OC my CPU with the XFX 550w PSU. Full specs can be seen under my system taking in mind the GPU is overclocked

The turbo boost already takes CPU up to 3.6GHz so I'm guessing a mild overclock to 4.0Ghz should be fine?

Thanks beforehand, reason I'm asking is because there's always different responses to how much power is needed and I'm sure the likes of Cat will be able to provide a precise answer

I also own a XFX 550W PSU. My CPU is a 1045T and it consumes 140W at 4.0Ghz with 1.38vcore. Bare in mind mine is originally rated at 95W TDP.

I also have pre-overclocked HD 7850 which probably brings up the wattage a bit. I have many fans etc Total consumption is around 400-450W.

Search Extremeoutervision Power Calculator Lite on Google, great tool for working out rough power supply decisions.

I find that really hard to believe. I would expect it to be nearer 300W max. Don't forget TDP is nothing to do with power used.

Couldn't disagree more. These tools are usually awful.

OP, that's a good powersupply, you should have no problem OCing the CPU at all. It's when you get into multiple graphics cards you need to worry.

    Re: OC with XFX 550w

Thanks for the replies guys. Will I be ok applying a slight voltage bump to the GPU as well?
