Thanks for the link, looking at buying a PSU over the weekend
Only problem is the category "designers: without their own production" is a very misleading bit of semantics.
Because that range covers the more uncommon companies who fully design and tweak the internal workings of a psu, all the way to the more common "We want you to make us a psu, our graphic designer has a concept for how the case will look and we want you to use this fan."
Most of the brands in that category fall into the latter half.
Part of the reason for dropping them into 1 blanket category is that it can be hard to know what has been done by who.
Still some better distinction would be good.
If you have a read of the label category, it seems like they class an external re-design as a 'label' change, so a lot of the latter half would probably fall into the 3rd catagory. Infact it does say in the title of this category 'with or without technical input' which tends to suggest the second catagory is mostly saved for people who have quite a significant input into the design.
I agree this could be clearer however the amount of information there is pretty comprehensive and you always have to ask the question, 'how far do you take it?'. I think this acts as very good first line check before you bother to go reading through reviews, this is where they would probably start to diverge into how much input the designer has had on the OEM in more specific detail.Quote:
Some good examples of products to watch are new models from Aerocool, which are essentially the Cougar units from Compucase/HEC with a discounted price and completely restyled exterior.
That'll be a useful set of information, since I've got a build coming up next month.. Thanks!
Awesome info!
This is a better website gives more details http://www.realhardtechx.com/index.htm check it out it will open your eyes regarding PSU info......
simples :)
Shush you, don't give away our secret for sounding far more knowledgeable than we actually are. :secret:
But seriously, it's a far better resource, it's always a first port of call when looking at psu's, even if it's just to see if jonnyguru or hardwaresecrets has reviewed it or not.
Perhaps I am being paranoid, but it's my perception that this article drew heavily from the following source, yet failed to reference it:

That's pretty poor form in my opinion.
Enermax seem to have some bad reviews but i'm still interested in their psu.
Interesting article indeed, nice post man.
Both the links that were posted are pretty good. It gets you thinking about your power supply. Thank you both dacads and D001
Thank you good article.
