Novatech 400W Modular PSU pictures
Right, don't try this at home kids. I don't just have a screwdriver, I also have a degree in electronics and the knowledge that this unit hasn't been powered up for well over a month (that PC build has been on hold whilst I move house).
Some people seemed quite keen on this, so have uploaded a few pictures to an album on here. You don't seem to get much space to upload do you :)
Hope this is enough to identify what you want. Attempts to use the flash just ruined the image, so these were flash off on macro setting (except the fan label wasn't on macro, you might be able to tell). Needed some proper lighting for this really. Anyway...

And no screws left over when I put it back together again either :D
Re: Novatech 400W Modular PSU pictures
It looks like the PSU is made by CWT.
The primary looks like a Hitachi HL or HU series capacitor.
Does the capacitor have the symbol on it:
http://www.iccfl.com/images/200V270UF_hitachi.jpg
It is the circle with pointy edges.
Edit!!
What is the writing on the primary and secondary capacitors??
You can use that to determine what company makes them.
The fan is a bog standard sleeve bearing unit which has been used in many OCZ PSUs.
Second Edit!!
The secondary capacitors look like a mixture of Teapo and Hitachi,Panasonic or Nippon Chemicon capacitors.
However, until you can get better pictures of them or tell us what is written on the side,it is not easy to say.
Third Edit!!
There seems to be at least three different companies used for the secondary capacitors. There are green, brown and blue ones.
Fourth Edit!!
Does the primary have a M on it??
That would indicate Matsu****a.
Re: Novatech 400W Modular PSU pictures
It's missing the green wrapped transformers which are a common sign of CWT, But it does have the heat sinks which look very similar.
The NO-number Rev Number is commonly used by Sirtec although the PCB is not the correct shape for the OCZ ModXtreme
Does look very reminiscent of the CWT made OCZ stealthXtreme II 400w
Re: Novatech 400W Modular PSU pictures
Managed to find a desk lamp and magnifying glass so I can see them better, caps are all marked Teapo.
Re: Novatech 400W Modular PSU pictures
Interesting,I have never seen any blue or brown Teapo capacitors before. They tend to be black or green coloured with a white or gold label.
Re: Novatech 400W Modular PSU pictures
From a quick google it looks like the blue ones are 85 degrees rated rather than 105, part of the cost reduction I guess. In the coolermaster itx case that should be fine, it only vents it's own heat, that might worry me in a case like my wife's Silverstone Sugo though. It is only 400W though, so I wouldn't expect it to be driving some overclocked crossfire setup that can double as a pottery kiln.
Amused me to see that the fan has a push connector to connect it to the board, whereas units I have opened in the past have been soldered (it has been a while, perhaps they don't do that any more). This seemed to be spoilt by the big dollop of hot glue holding the plug in :D
Re: Novatech 400W Modular PSU pictures
All Teapo capacitors are still better than the low end Corsair units.

Always a bonus - even more so if there are no empty screw holes! :)
Great pics though - looks as if it has been assembled with some care (apart from the input filter) rather than just flung together like the really cheap 'n' nasty designs.

If you are looking at some really cheap but reasonable PSUs, CCL Computers have a few 400W to 500W OEM FSP units for around £20,based on older designs. They are not as good as the unit in the OP,but certainly much better than the el-cheapo ones in that price range.
Re: Novatech 400W Modular PSU pictures
Does the unit by chance have a UL number? Should E something. under the RU signage.

Yes, I saw that thread, they looked quite a good buy.
I learned (indirectly) a salutory lesson about cheap PSUs a few years ago (I think I posted about somewhere here)
A colleague brought in a dead computer, he had just upgraded the memory, plugged it in and git a little alarmed when smoke started coming out of it.
Inside, the insulation had melted off some of the cables, and further investigation showed that the floppy disk connector had been displaced one pin to the left (or right, can't remember which) shorting out one of the power rails.
A replacement PSU was ordered and fitted. Computer was powered up, nothing happened. Investigation showed that, despite taking care, the same mis-connection of the floppy connector had occurred. But this time the PSU just shut itself down safely. Once the connector had been inserted correctly, the PC powered up normally.

Not that I can see from the outside, don't fancy opening it up again, it was a bit of a git to get the lid off.

80 plus certification report:
http://www.plugloadsolutions.com/80P...?id=244&type=2
So it can survive a 100% load, unlike the 10 quid units :D
Re: Novatech 400W Modular PSU pictures
Is this fairly quiet? Might pick one of these up this week.
Re: Novatech 400W Modular PSU pictures
Has been very quiet for me, though I am only pulling a light load from it (100W TDP CPU, handful of hard drives and a second network card) and the machine is largely idle.
