Silent high End PSU wanted

After giving up on two Corsair AX850's and one AX750's (excessive coil whine and intermittent powering on issues) I need people advise on a new high end silent PSU.
Budget upto £150 - need no more than 650W , although I brought higher watts because reduces chance of fan turning on.

I love the Corsair design where the fan doesn't even power up unless needed.

If you have really good airflow in your case, maybe consider a fanless PSU? And higher capacity might not necessarily mean your PSU won't heat up when you are idling, because PSU's efficiencies drop quite sharply when you go below a certain percentage. It might be that a lower wattage PSU can keep in its efficiency sweet spot more of the time.

Don't really think Cooler Master and High End go together.

I have a Corsair 650D case, air flow is ok, but because I choose quietness over anything else, the fans are all set to slow RPM's.

Oh and 100% modular is also a requirement - spending £150, its a given

Ah, I tend to go partial modular since it is usually a little cheaper and I have always seen the need for mobo headers. That Enermax looks good, I had an Enermax Liberty in my last build. No problems with it and don't think I ever heard the fan in that (not saying it was silent but it was comparatively quieter than the other fans the loudest of which was the standard NZXT fan in the front of the Vulcan), and certainly no whine. Looking at your system, I don't think you will run into trouble.

But since you said you have good flow; maybe fanless? Seasonic makes a lot of PSUs for other companies (which get rebadged) and their own are pretty nice.

Both the AX750 and AX850 are seasonic psu's, built of their X platform.
The coolermaster silent pro m2 620w and below are made by seventeam, I'm not sure on the quality as there's no reviews for them, but generally speaking the higher end coolermaster psu's are good.

The Platimax are one of the enermax psu that they make (some of their lower end units are now made by CWT or sirtech)

It uses a 140mm fan at very low rpm (max 1000rpm) so should be near silent.

I have the 80 Plus Gold version; the fan doesn't even active unless you're pulling about 400W from it.

That Platimax isn't full modular anyway.

It's not full modular, but everything that you need to be modular is, and it also has the fan off at low power.

Quick look at your system Brewster and I don't see how you need more than 350w at absolute maximum.

From personal experience of about 3 months ownership my 460w Silver Power fanless from Scan has been good and no noise at all. Any whine and I'd hear it - I have no fans. i was suspicious of it at first as it feels very light and flimsy for a fanless unit, but it has given me no issues at all.

non-overclocked probably around 380-390watts, add another 150-160w if you push the 8350 to around a 4.8ghz overclock.
(very rough estimate probably a bit high)

The Seasonic Powerless PSU's seem to have coil whine issues and other problems. Not a reliable PSU.

Enermax PSU's are not 100% modular and the cable sleeving is yuck.

I does seem like the Corsair AX range is the only PSU that ticks all my requirements....

No. I looked up the TDP of the components listed in Brewster0101's system on the left.

Most of the '600w minimum' nonsense that comes from graphics card manufacturers is based the assumption people are using low end no-name tat that comes bundled with the case.

His components might well use 350w, which would make a 500-600w PSU a good choice.

Plus I'm betting he might want to upgrade that 6870 before long.
