My build will consist of a FX 6300 and GTX 760 (or 7870).
I wanted to also overclock later down the line so I'm not sure if it would be better to get 550W.
p.s. Both PSU's are by XFX with the same rating.

The 450W PSU would probably be fine,but the 550W would give you further options down the line in what you can have.
Also,if you can still get an HD7870XT/LE that would be a good way to get decent performance if you can find one for under £170. OTH,it might be worth looking for one of the GTX760 cards for under £200.

I think i will get the 550W xfx psu then. But it is still helpful to know that a 450W would still be fine for this build.

Doesn't it depend which XFX 450W unit it is? There are two (known) versions, version 1 had more connectors, whereas V2 dropped the number of PCIe connectors down to just one - amongst other changes. So V2 would need adapters to run a card which requires more than one PCIe connector.
